How to Clear History From Google Maps

If you’re anything like us, you use Google Maps several times a day to help you get around. And if you’re really like us, you’ve probably noticed that the app tends to keep a pretty tight grip on your location history.

Don’t worry, there’s a way to clear your history without having to delete the entire app and start from scratch. Here’s how:

First, open Google Maps and tap on the three lines in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. From there, select “Your Timeline.”

Next, select the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and choose “Delete all Location History.”

You’ll see a pop-up asking if you’re sure you want to delete your Location History. Select “Delete” to confirm.

How to clear history from Google Maps

If you’re like most people, you probably use Google Maps on a daily basis. And, if you’re like most people, you probably also don’t realize that your every move is being tracked and stored by Google. If you’re interested in keeping your location history private, you’ll need to take a few steps to clear your history from Google Maps. In this article, we’ll show you how.

Step 1: Open the Google Maps app

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .

Step 2: Tap your profile picture or initial

If you’re using Maps in Lite mode, you can’t view a map of where you’ve been.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
Tap your profile picture or initial. Tap Delete. Select all the items you want to delete from your history. At the bottom, tap Delete .

Step 3: Tap “Maps History”

Select “Maps history” from the list. This will open your location history page.

Step 4: Tap the Menu

From the main Google Maps screen, tap the Menu icon. This button is located in the upper-left corner of the screen and looks like three stacked horizontal lines.

Step 5: Tap “History”
A drop-down menu will appear. From here, select “History.” You should now see a timeline of all the places you’ve been with your phone.

Step 6: Tap “Clear history”
At the bottom of this screen, you’ll see a button labeled “Clear history.” Tapping this will delete all your location history from Google Maps.

Step 5: Select “Delete History”

Once you have located the “Delete History” tab, click on it. This will prompt a pop-up menu asking you to confirm your decision. In the pop-up menu, select “OK.” Once you have done this, your entire search history will be cleared from Google Maps.

Conclusion

Assuming you want to clear ALL of your location history from Google Maps:

Open the Google Maps app on your Android phone or iPhone.
Tap the three lines in the top left corner of the screen.
Tap “Your timeline.” If you see a calendar with a white background and red location pin icons, tap it. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
Above the map, tap the date range that you want to delete.
To the right of that date range, tap More Delete all Location History.
At the bottom, tap Delete all Location History.
