How to Clear History on iPhone

Need to clear your history on your iPhone? Here’s a quick how-to guide on deleting your search history, cookies, and cache on Safari.

Open Settings on your iPhone

Open Settings on your iPhone. You can find this app on one of your Home screens; it’s typically in the first row. If you use an iPhone with Face ID, you’ll need to use your passcode instead to access this menu.

Scroll down and tap Safari. It’s about halfway down the list of options on this page.

Tap Clear History and Website Data. This button is at the bottom of the Safari page. Doing so will prompt a pop-up asking if you want to clear your history.

Scroll down and tap Safari

From the Home screen, tap the Settings icon.

Tap Safari.

At the bottom of the Safari page, tap Clear History and Website Data.

A new window will pop up asking if you want to Clear History and Data. Tap Clear History and Data to continue.

Scroll down to the bottom and tap Clear History and Website Data

Here’s how to clear your history:

1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap the bookmarks icon.
3. Tap the History tab.
4. Tap Clear at the bottom of the screen.
5. Select how far back you want to clear your history. The options are: last hour, today, today and yesterday, or all time.
6. Tap Clear History to confirm.

To clear your cookies and website data, tap Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies and Data.

To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.

If you’re using a public device or shared computer, don’t forget to sign out of Safari when you’re done:

Go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data.
In the menu that appears, tap Clear History and Data.
